As if we weren’t already really looking forward to Global Entrepreneurship Week, 16-22 November 2009, here comes something to crank up the excitement even further. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has recorded a video for the Kauffman Foundation endorsing the week.
We’ll be posting all of our events for the week on our website and we invite you to come to all of them. Plus, we’re just putting the finishing touches to our amazing launch party – make sure you are signed up to our email newsletter to get an invite!
Increasing numbers of student businesses are social enterprises: organisations run to solve social problems of all kinds, with profits ploughed back into the business (although you can still make a fair wage for running it).
If you think you have a good idea for a social enterprise, you have until 20th November to write just 750 words which could change your life, and the lives of others around you. Over six months, shortlisted entries will receive business plan development support from the Skoll Centre and other mentors, as well as hot-desking space at the Hive, Oxford. Each winning idea is eligible for up to £5,000 investment from a total pot of £15,000.
If you want advice on your idea, you can attend one of our Business Clinic sessions, or contact us directly. To enter, visit the Skoll:EMERGE website.
If you think you are, enter this competition to win approx £3,500 worth of tuition
fees, a Toshiba laptop, a prestigious summer 2010 placement with XMA, and the services of a mentor for your first year at University! Watch the video, presented by Hermione Way – who will be speaking at Royal Holloway in November – to find out more.
