Reading week’s over!
Reading week is over, and we’re back too! After the huge success of the Do It! workshop, we’re back with some great Start It! talks.
Start It! University Entrepreneurs (part 1) with Charles Radclyffe
Join us this Thursday for our first talk in a mini series of two, with University Entrepreneurs, this week: Charles Radclyffe
Charles set up his first business during his gap year and ran it while he was studying Law at Trinity College, Cambridge. By the time he was 23, Titan Computers was turning over more than £250,000 a year and he was featured on BBC News alongside Yo Sushi founder Simon Woodroffe. He then sold the business and went on to work as a turnaround professional spearheading the sale of an online marketing company to the UK’s largest direct marketing business.
Charles now consults for some of the world’s top 10 leading banks and as a Project Manager specialises in the implementation of regulatory change projects in the financial services industry.
His latest pastime is preparing a classic VW Beetle to embark on the ultimate road trip, travelling through 100 countries, driving over 80,000km and seeking out interesting charities and social enterprise projects along the way.
Make sure you come and bring your friends. We’ve also setup a Facebook Event which you can find here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=204572356292
Bright Ideas – £1000? Don’t mind if I do!
Do you have a bright idea for a new or improved service or product, or a social enterprise or project? Put your ideas on paper and compete with your peers. You don’t need any formal business knowledge and you can enter on your own or as a part of a team.
The Bright Ideas competition allows you to win £1000 for your business idea! But no worries, there’s more than just the one price of £1000, there’s a grand total of 20 prizes to be won, plus a special healthcare prize. This means, you’ve got better odds than at our Dragons’ Den Event!

Global Entrepreneurship Week
Yes! A whole week dedicated to Entrepreneurs all around the world. As you might know, Global Entrepreneurship Week is coming up (16-22. November 2009), and we’ve got great plans. I would highly recommend checking out a page dedicated to Royal Holloway Entrepreneurs in the Founder (released this week) and some flyers in Careers. You never know what you might find.
